It’s a chilly/brisk/crisp morning here in St. Louis – really any description you want to call the weather when your body hasn’t acclimated to the cold because it changed overnight.
But, getting out in it sure wakes you up.
So yesterday, I brought up a taboo subject in our healthy community…
Going out to, gulp! fast food joints.
Yeah, I know you think that every time you walk into McDonald’s you’re already failed. That’s not entirely true. Just know that anytime you answer the YES to the question, “Would you like to super-size that?”, it’s not gonna be a great day.
However, we all find ourselves stuck with only fast food options, so here is a sample day of how you can keep your fitness momentum moving forward…
Sous Vide Egg Bites, Bacon & Gruyere: I’ve ordered these for lunch they’re so delicious. You can even throw in a black coffee if you want. The egg bites are a great source of protein with excellent stats:
Net Carbs: 9g
Jimmy John’s (any sandwich place should do this for you)
The Unwich: Pick any sandwich on the menu. They’ll remove the bread. Add lettuce to hang onto. And enjoy! I actually like the breadless version of the sammies better. I usually get the #11 Country Club:
Net Carbs: 6g
Salad Bowl (with Carnitas): Order with fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese and guacamole. Just like the sandwiches, I think it tastes better without the tortilla – you can taste the ingredients, not the delivery device:
Net Carbs: 12g
Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t try to eat cleaner than the above. But when you find yourself in a pinch during the holidays or on the road, that should give you some idea what to order.
