💪 Here’s your simple practice plan

Happy Super Bowl morning! 

Honestly, I care more about the final round of the Waste Management than the SB. But, it’ll be a fun day over at my buddy’s house even though I am still booze-free, and not eating junk. 

If you’ve noticed, we’re focused on keeping things SIMPLE around here to help guarantee you stay on track with your long-term golf goals. 

Today, I want to talk about your PRACTICE. Because a lot of times, we’re led to believe that the more complicated, the better. 

Really, you should treat your practice like your workouts. The workouts in the 18STRONG App are purposefully simple…WITHOUT sacrificing results. 

Again, simple is almost always better.  

Here’s a GREAT piece of advice I was given to keep your range sessions simple: 

Come up with a “practice formula” that includes two things: 

  1. A List of things that are giving you the most trouble. Things like: 
  1. Struggle controlling distance on lag putts 
  1. Too much slice with the driver 
  1. Hitting long irons too thin 
  1. Hitting wedges too fat 
  1. A Practice Schedule for each session. For example: 
  1. 10 minutes putting 
  1. 5 minutes chipping 
  1. 25 minutes on the range 
  1. 10 minutes chipping 
  1. 5 minutes putting 

Remember: Golf practice is ALWAYS quality over quantity. 

Now, having a go-to formula works in several different ways: 

  • It simplifies your preparation 
  • It removes “decision fatigue”, which can happen when you’re forced to make choices all day long. The more decisions you make, the harder it becomes  

Your points to work on will constantly be changing. Creating a list does two things, 1) Makes you aware of what needs work, 2) Helps organize your practice session. 

Like my workouts, I save myself a ton of time when I show up with a plan. And I’m able to stay focused because I’ve got a schedule to adhere to.
