Happy Thursday, and happy 28th anniversary to Tonya Harding and Jeff Gillooly for orchestrating the clubbing of Nancy Kerrigan’s knee. Boy, that was weird.
Today, we’re on the unofficial Day 2 of picking on cardio workouts. And before you reply and tell me to get bent, here’s the disclaimer:
*Yes, cardio workouts can absolutely help you lose weight.
BUT, they’re just not very good at it.
Cardio burns faster, but weight training burns longer.
Here’s what I mean…
Cardio is a sprinter like Usain Bolt. Weight training is a long-distance runner like Steve Prefontaine.
We burn more calories when we do cardio, but as soon as we stop the workout, the fire is put out. Weight training is the opposite.
After we get our pump on, our bodies keep the fire burning. Thus, a more efficient, powerful, fat-burning machine over the long term.
And BONUS: not only do we get a body that has less fat, but we get a body that looks fit, toned and athletic.
What’s the point of working your a$$ off to lose a bunch of fat if there are no muscles underneath? We end up looking like skinny runts.
Given the choice, I’d take the Rory McIlroy physique over the Will Zalatoris physique.
Full disclosure: I do not like running. And I love soccer. Go figure.
If you’re like me, strength training is fun. We’re not constantly out of breath. It’s relaxing. And it’s a great way to catch up on your favorite Netflix show.
On the other hand, you can run in place for hours and hours each week.
In the Golfer’s Fat Loss Blueprint, you’ll find a program for guys like us. Not only do we want to lose fat, but when we lose it, we want to look like we work out.
IMPORTANT: many golf training programs focus too heavily on flexibility. All golfers want more. But increased flexibility has very little affect on your body’s ability to burn fat.
So, you need a program with a mix of strength and mobility training to get the benefit of looking good, and playing your best – Golfer’s Fat Loss Blueprint.
You’ve got this.
Your #1 Fan,
PS – You can find a video we shot that takes a deeper dive on the webpage. I brought it up yesterday, but there are two camps we all fall into:
Camp 1 has very little success. Camp 2, perhaps a little more. But, I’ll show you the 3rd camp very few know about that consistently sees long-term success.
