Can you guess which state I’m in? (Answer at the bottom)
Happy Friday, my fellow 18STRONG golfer.
Let’s jump right in today because I need to get back out in the wilderness. Really gives a fella time to think.
If you’re starting to panic that the spring is here. Golf season is here. And before you know it, bikini will be season is here. And you’re not in the shape you envisioned in January…don’t worry.
I know how it feels. You ever have so much to do either at work or home, it’s almost paralyzing? Then you finally get organized. And realize you just need to break everything down into small pieces.
The worst thing you can try to do is everything at once. Unless you want to pull out all of your hair.
Instead of going a million miles per hour out of the gate, slow the F down. Despite what ridiculous ads will tell you, getting fit is a marathon.
If you’re interested in a quick fix, then I’m not your guy. But if you’re interested in long-term success, I’m all in.
If you’re not doing mobility exercises, you should start with that…today. If you’re not lubricating your joints (just by moving), you’re going to constantly feel tight and stiff.
So, start with your “golf areas”…neck, shoulders, hips, ankles, your trunk. Just get them moving every single day.
Go slow. Get your full range of motion. Rinse and repeat.
At first, you’ll hear a lot of creaking and cracking. That’s okay. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll noticeably feel better (usually around 7 days), but it does take some time.
Start by moving your joints. Then add in some strength training. Then work on your nutrition. Then add more weight. Then add more reps. Then do overspeed training.
See what I mean? You can’t do all of that starting tomorrow.
Start with mobility. Then add small pieces at a time.
Your #1 Fan,
PS – If you’re looking to get started the right way, then the Golf Body Blueprint – Activate program already in the 18STRONG App will map out your next 8-weeks. Again, no quick fixers need apply.
We’ll get you started with a specific movement routine. A foundational strength training program. And all the support you need.
PPS – In the picture at the top, I’m in the “mountains” of Iron County in southern Missouri. I could have easily said I was in Colorado and gotten away with it:)
