💪 What to do if you hate exercise?

Good morning, and happy hump day, my fellow golf nut. 

It’s a beautiful St. Louis morning, but I’m still gonna bring the heat.  

So, there’s a guy named Jason who helps us with some of our website and social media stuff. He doesn’t really play golf, and he hates exercising. He’s still a great dude:) 

BUT…he wants to get into shape and lose weight. Who doesn’t? 

I never really thought he was serious about it, so I didn’t give it much thought. However, somebody lit a fire under his a$$ and, like most, made a New Year’s resolution. 

So, I had to figure out how to whip a guy into shape who hates exercise – not exactly what I do in the gym every day. 

If I’m being honest, my first instinct was, “He’s just not one of our guys (the Crew). Our guys exercise and love golf. What am I supposed to tell him?” 

Then, I took a step back and accepted the challenge. It was kinda like creating a keto diet for a vegetarian. 

Here’s what I prescribed for Jason: 

Don’t do anything major. Don’t go to the gym. Don’t start running. 

Just start moving.  

That’s it. 

Do the Daily Motion for 7-10 minutes per day. Then, commit to moving for just 40 minutes each day. Just take a walk or do a light workout where you’re not sweating like a pig. 

And guess what? He’s been doing it for 9 days and is down 6 lbs.  

Full disclosure, he hasn’t had any booze in the last 9 days, so that’s a big part of the fat loss, but he’s DOING IT. 

And he’s not doing anything intense. But, he’s healing his body, and starting to move like a 42-yr-old should move. 

So, in my most compassionate and kind tone… 


Stop trying to make everything perfect. Stop looking for the perfect program for you – it ain’t out there. 

Instead, just focus on action. Nike has had it right for years – Just Do It! 

Simple works. Always has, always will.
