If you’ve been following us for any length of time, we talk a lot about the importance of your mobility. A LOT!
Whether it’s so you have a more fluid golf swing. Help you stay injury-free. Or, just get around the world more comfortably.
And the BIGGEST frustration I see is from golfers who are constantly stretching, but don’t see any real improvement in their motion.
If this sounds like you, I’m gonna be blunt…you’re doing it wrong.
But, I’m also going to give you an out…it’s not your fault.
There is a phenomenon that’s happening in our bodies when we stretch called the “protective response”.
Think of it like the governor on your golf cart.
Your brain is only going to let your muscles stretch so far, before the “danger” gets too high and governor kicks in.
Or, if you open a new account at the bank.
The loan guy (your brain) is only going to start you with a small line of credit (your range of motion). After the loan officer gets more comfortable with you, he’ll extend your line of credit (ROM).
Now, there is a hack to get that cheap a$$ loan guy to give you a big line of credit almost immediately.
And that is to “override” the Protective Response in your body.
