Rinse repeat doesn’t work for this

This morning, I saw the same mistake I see this in the gym almost every single day.

At our gym, we have trainers and clients outside of our 18STRONG Crew.

We also have a handful of clients who come to the gym to work out on their own…these are the guys I’m talking about.

They religiously come to the gym.

Do a quick warm up.

Then they do the exact same workout every time.

I don’t want to be the trainer who walks up and gives unsolicited advice.

So, I bite my tongue.

And cringe whenever I see them doing the same bench press, biceps curls, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, we love those exercises.

And we love that these guys are doing something.

But their bodies never change.

And it pains me to see them wasting so much of their time running on the hamster wheel but getting nowhere.

If asked, I’d tell them one thing…it’s time to shake up your workouts!

There are two reasons doing the same movements over and over doesn’t work:

1. You need to give your muscles 24-48 hours to recover and heal so they can build. If you repeat the same movements, there’s no recovery time. Therefore, no muscle building.

2. Your muscles adapt quickly to exercise. Our bodies are so damn smart, we figure out how to do less work when we do the same routines. We are wired to use the least amount of energy for every task…

…that’s why you need to keep your body guessing.

So, speaking of keeping your body guessing – we the have a new training program that comes out every month in the 18STRONG Membership.

You can’t help but mix it up.

STAY STRONG,

Jeff
