đź’Ş Are The Workouts Or The System More Important?

I got an email this morning from a buddy, Brian, who was on our Sweetens Cove trip that simply read this:

“75 acres”

That’s how big the plot of land is that Sweetens lives on. Here’s why he sent it:

So, this past Saturday, our boys had a soccer game and we got talking about what it would take to re-create something similar, hopefully way cooler, as Sweetens 9-hole paradise in Tennessee.

For a variety of reasons, we’d like it to be close to St. Louis.

Sweetens has set the bar really high, so this is no fly-by-night project we’re talking about.

We need to be well-funded. Have the “perfect” location. Have the right architect. The right branding…

Basically, we need a great team, and an even better system if we’re serious about pulling this off. Of course, we’re still in the very beginning where it’s just an idea in our heads, but I think this may have legs.

Other than you having an open invitation to our course, what does this have to do with you?

As Brian and I were talking, we really got on the subject of the importance of systems. As we’ve gotten deeper into our careers, we both geek out on systems and processes.

Years ago, our 18STRONG accountant continuously drove home the importance of creating systems so we can simply plug different people in, and never skip a beat – and I’m glad he did.

And that’s the approach we’ve taken into our training programs. Yeah, we have workouts, but that’s not the most important piece of what we do.

If all you want are workouts, I think Peloton has 10,000 you can choose from – you’d never run out.

We are more focused on the system our golfers can plug into to get into shape the right way.

Sure, jogging, biking and generic workouts in the gym are going to help, but if you’re serious about playing your best golf and making your fitness a life-long priority, not a cycle that keeps repeating, you need a system.

And that’s why, after years of tinkering, we created a system on the 5 movements that were getting our golfers the best results:

Push

Pull

Hinge

Squat

Rotate

Every training program of ours you see includes each of those movements in a very specific way. It’s our recipe.

Think about how many different places you can order a pizza from. But there’s a system that your favorite place uses that makes it your favorite.

And that’s what we’ve been lucky enough to uncover the past 10+ years.

Of course, we want to be the guys who help, but whatever exercise program you do choose, please make sure you include each of the five movements above – your index with thank you.

You’ve got this.

PS – If you’re tired of guessing which exercises, in which order, and with X number of reps and sets to do, then check out the 18STRONG App. All of the programs are laid out step-by-step so there is no guesswork.

Show up, listen to your favorite podcast (big surprise, mine is Joe Rogan), do the work and the results will come…quicker than you think.
