💪 Best exercise “app” of all time

Oh boy, it’s chilly Friday afternoon. And after an icy, slippery commute to the gym, I’m ready to right the ship and rock out.

Today’s topic? Technology over-complicating our exercise (our world, really).

Earlier this morning, I was going down an internet rabbit hole and came across “the best app to help with fasting.”

Among other things, it was to help people time their fasts.

And I remember thinking:

“I’ve been doing some form of intermittent fasting for years. And have been using the perfect app – it’s called a clock.”

I look at my watch. When it says noon, I eat. When it says 8p, I stop eating. And I don’t eat between meals.

You think I could sell that in the Apple Store?

Anyway, it also got me thinking about exercise apps, in general. Since I started in this business 15-ish years ago, people have been on a constant quest for that ever-elusive magic exercise app.

That mythical “app” has never existed…that lets you push a button, the pounds melt away, and you start carrying drives 340 yards.

It doesn’t exist.

It never will.

And there are some really great exercise apps out there like MyFitnessPal, Peloton, 18STRONG (of course:)…

But they all have one thing in common:

YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK!

As an app builder, we do our best to take away as many obstacles as we can so all you have to do is show up. And put in the effort.

The best apps are simple.

Spotify plays music.

Uber gives you a ride home.

GHIN keeps track of your index.

18STRONG keeps track of your workouts.

And THE BEST EXERCISE “app” of all time?

Consistently doing something every day that moves you forward.

Could be on your phone. Could be on a pad of paper.

Just do something.

And that’s what we provide golfers in the 18STRONG App.
