💪 Mindset is NOT the challenge

Today, St. Louis is hosting the second largest Mardi Gras parade in the United States. And I don’t want any part of it.

As a younger fella, I used to stand in the cold for over-priced beers, long lines at the porta-potties, and throw beads for not-so-great topless flashing.

I’ve traded those days for a Saturday afternoon at my brother’s brewery. And an evening at my cousin’s barn.

It’s a much different mindset when you’re 44 vs the 24 or 34-yr-old version of yourself.

Which transitions perfectly into our series on the three focus points of getting fit:

Exercise

Nutrition

Mindset

To wrap it all up, let’s dominate your mindset today.

When it comes to getting fit, exercise and diet get all the press. And mindset gets overlooked.

Without a good mindset, all the workout and nutritional information in the world won’t help. So, let’s start by shifting our mindset with these three steps:

  1. #nevermisstwice – Seems obvious, but the first step to building any habit is literally showing up to execute the habit you want to create. And showing up every single time.
  1. It’s NOT all or none – Life will get in the way. And you will miss a workouts and have bad meals. That is normal. Instead of quitting, accept that is part of the cycle and push forward!
  1. Play the long game – Accept that it’s going to take you longer to get into shape than the BS infomercial is telling you. Getting into shape is the cumulative affect of doing the right things 80-90% of the time…NOT being perfect for 90 days (it ain’t gonna happen).

Keep those three things in mind when you’re decision-making. And you can’t lose.

So, that’s it.

And nothing I’ve said the past three days is revolutionary. Or new. That’s the point.

It’s all simple. And it works.

The actions themselves are not the challenge. The challenge is doing the actions consistently.
