đź’Ş My preferred technique to get injured

It’s Thursday, LIVE Q&A day, and there’s a lot of great stuff going on, so I’ll dive right in.

You have choices. Lots of choices. More choices than you’ve ever had before.

Overwhelm isn’t just creeping in, we’re in full-blown overwhelm overdose.

Which is why I continue to recommend SIMPLE.

Purposely taking complexity out of your fitness. Focusing on the basics and habit-building that always work.

I flashback on this all of time…a few year back, our co-founder Ryan (also my cousin if you haven’t picked that up yet:) called me because he hurt his shoulder working out.

So, I put on my Physical Therapist hat and asked him exactly how he did it.

Turns out, he was following a hypertrophy (bulking) program. He was doing a 1-armed snatch, and felt a little pop. I’ll share his prognosis in a minute…

I took a look at the program, shook my head, and lovingly told him, “You’re an idiot.”

“Why are you doing Olympic and Crossfit lifts?”

Now, he’ll be the first to tell you that he didn’t have a great answer, other than he was just following the program and thought he’d be fine.

It pains me when I see so many golfers (and people in general) make the mistake of complex workouts.

And Ryan has been lifting for years. If he got hurt, what chance to novices have of not injuring themselves?

Too many programs out there are designed to give you what you want – not what you need.

We all want bigger biceps. Bigger pecs. 6-pack abs. And workouts that focus on our “glamour muscles.”

Especially for golfers, what we need is to start by simply moving.

Then we incorporate strength training and start building small nutritional habits.

Then magically, the biceps, pecs, and 6-pack abs appear.

Start small. Keep it simple. And stay consistent.

THAT is the “secret”.

While everyone else struggles to stick to their programs because it’s too much, too fast, and impossible to stick to – YOU know better.

Just being here makes you smarter than the average bear.

SIMPLE. SIMPLE. SIMPLE.

Your #1 Fan,

Jeff Pelizzaro

PS – There was no structural damage to Ryan’s shoulder, but it’s still not quite right, so his Olympic lifting career is over:)

These days, he sticks to the programs in the 18STRONG App. If you ask him, he’ll tell you the Daily Motion (already scheduled on your calendar when you join) keeps his shoulder healthy.

“I can tell if I don’t do the Daily Motion for a few days, that my shoulder is way more “clicky” than usual.”
