💪 Scottie Scheffler’s fat loss scorecard

It’s Wednesday and I think that big Easter brunch and dinner are finally out of my system. And I feel 10 lbs lighter.

As a general rule, I try to stick to 2,500 calories per day to maintain my weight. If you’ve been following me through the 40-Day Forge, you know I’ve been messing around with a much lower target lately.

But for the most part, 2,500 calories per day is my normal sweet spot.

On Sunday however, I pushed past that number at light speed. Who can pass on trying everything at the table? Ham sammich on rye, deviled-eggs, cheesy potatoes, cookies, candy, and of course a few cold brews.

I gained weight on Sunday. Not a lot. But it happened.

But here’s the thing: I don’t give a rat’s a$$ about one day.

My #1 priority when it comes to my nutrition is Caloric Awareness. In other words, how many calories am I putting into my body? And how many calories is my body burning?

And this is where I used to go wrong. And this is when I see the light bulb go on for so many of our Crew…

Think of your calories like your scorecard. A bad hole here and there isn’t going to ruin your overall round. Of course, it’s frustrating. But it’s part of the game.

Okay, here’s how it works with your diet:

Each hole is one day. Each day, you are either above, below, or at par (calories per day to stay the same weight).

Here’s Scottie Scheffler’s final round at The Masters:

Each “day” isn’t perfect. But overall, this is a guy who lost weight over 18 days.

On the green days, Scottie was under his daily caloric target and lost weight. On days in white, he hit his goal and stayed the same. On pink days, he over-indulged and gained weight. And on the purple days, he really let himself eat like a garbage can and gained weight.

If he were trying to drop weight, he was successful WITHOUT being perfect 100% of the time.

Did the light bulb go on yet?

Part of being aware of your calories is not just what you’re doing today or tomorrow. But what’s the big picture?

Where will you be in one week, month, year?

For example, if you quit drinking one 12 oz can of Coke every day for one year, here’s the math:

139 calories per can X 365 days = 50,735 calories

50,735 calories / 3,500 calories (amount of calories to burn to lose one pound) = 14.5 pounds lost!!

Imagine what you would look like and how you would feel if April 20th 2023 you were 14 and a half pounds lighter?

The formula is simple

Calories in is less than calories out…you lose weight.

Are you ready to make it happen?

Yeah, you are.
