Hey, do you remember in Wolf of Wall Street when they had their Steve Madden IPO day?
Everybody in the boiler room was losing their minds. Talking to trash. Screaming into phones. Paper flying everywhere. And according to Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill’s character), they made, “22 million dollars in three f-ing hours!”
Well last week, we released our new and improved Activate program to the world. And other than the $22M we earned, it wasn’t quite the same:)
BUT, there were a lot of high fives. A lot of sighs of relief for a job well done. Some celebratory suds. And yours truly couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear.
You see, Ryan and I finally pulled our heads out of our Clavins and focused on our tribe – the 45+ crowd.
As much as we all think we’re still in our 20s and 30s, our bodies are telling us a different story.
And I don’t want you to think any of us is old…in my mind, I still feel like, “Holy cow! I’m a dad with three kids, one of whom is in high school?”
It really is a state of mind.
But, as the elder statesmen in the golf world, we require a different set of needs for our fitness.
If we’re honest, we’ve lost some distance, flexibility, and we tend to play with a few more aches and pains.
But again, we’re not settling for “Old man golf”. You know, the kind of golf where every shot has a built-in excuse. And a lot of sentences start with, “Back when I was…”
My soon-to-be 16-yr-old son has his hands full with me, because I’m not going down without a fight. Like my Dad always says to me, “You may be younger, but you’ll never be meaner.”
And he’s right.
So, I’m going to tell you what I told one of my clients, Larry, who wanted to keep beating his son-in-law to show him he was still the alpha…
- Stop spending money on new equipment, gadgets and countless range balls, and start training with a purpose.
- Stop “information seeking”. That is a recipe for paralysis by analysis, and you’ll never progress because you’re always looking for the next “miracle”. Find a program and stick to it.
- Start focusing on your #1 weapon in golf – the only weapon we all use on every single shot – your body.
Of course, this works perfectly for golf and fitness, but I kid you not, it works for most things.
Simple. Simple. Simple.
If you’re like me, you’re constantly looking for the perfect fix for everything – I have to constantly remind myself that there ain’t no such thing.
Alright, I’m going to get out and enjoy this beautiful St. Louis day. I hope you’re having a great day as well.
Your #1 Fan,
Jeff Pelizzaro
PS – Just a friendly reminder that the Activate “IPO” is now $67 vs $97 for a limited time if you’re ready to get the party started.
