We’re a little early for resolution season, but I have seen a lot of fitness challenges come across my IG feed lately. So, the question becomes… Are fitness challenges a good idea? I’ll share my quick feelings in a minute, but first, check out the article our buddies over at 1stPhorm put together: “Are Fitness Challenges Worth It?” In the article, they take an interesting dive into the pros and cons. My opinion? It depends. I love fitness challenges to get you up, and get moving with the added component of competition (which all of us golfers love). It’s a great way to give yourself a reset. BUT… You also have to realize that most challenges are not sustainable. Now, bits and pieces of the challenges are absolutely sustainable. And can help you build great habits. For example, an 8-week challenge where you are required to drink 24 oz. in the morning, while also doing two 45-min exercise sessions per day. An hour and a half of working out is a lot for anybody. Drinking 24 oz. every morning is doable. So, after your 8-week challenge you walk away with the morning water and just 45-minutes per day habits…that’s a HUGE win. I encourage you to check out the article here and decide for yourself. And for the record, depending on the challenge, they are mostly a very good idea. STAY STRONG, Jeff |
