Diet without exercise…and vice versa.

And we’re back!

I trust you had a great couple of days relaxing over the Christmas break, and Santa brought you plenty of golf presents.

Now that we’re shifting to the New Year’s holiday, let’s get real about your goals.

Starting with…

“You need a healthy diet and exercise if you’re going to lose weight.”

We’ve been hearing that our entire lives.

But why?

How exactly do they work together?

So, we can all agree that, whatever your weight loss goal is, you should utilize diet and exercise, right?

Utilizing one without the other is setting yourself up to regain weight later – you know, when your motivation disappears.

Here’s the difference:

Diet is more impactful for weight loss in the short-term…

And exercise is more beneficial in the long-term to maintain weight loss

Most golfers find it much easier to cut 500 calories from their daily intake than to burn 500 calories lifting weights, running, walking, rowing, etc.

BUT, without exercise, a larger portion of any weight lost will be from lean muscle.

Meaning, as you lose weight, your body fat percentage could actually increase

And over the long haul, reduced levels of muscle lower your body’s metabolic rate, and increase fat gain.

In other words, muscle burns more calories than fat.

The more muscle you have on your frame, the easier it is for your body to consistently burn calories, especially over time…

…which is why we love strength training for fat loss.

Strength training helps ensure that you’re losing the bulk of your weight from fat, rather than muscle.

And keep it off.

These kinds of strategies are exactly what you’re going to find in the 18STRONG Membership.
