How many calories does walking burn?

We’ve been talking about injury prevention all week, so let’s change gears as we hit the weekend. 

Now, if you’re not a weekend warrior in the gym, let’s not forget about one of my favorite pastimes you can easily do tomorrow and Sunday… 


It still remains one of the best forms of exercise we can do every day. 

So, I’m asked all of time some version of this question, “Walking can’t possibly burn a lot of calories, right?” 

Oh, don’t discount the power of walking. 

Our buddy Will over at 1stPhorm wrote a great article about the benefits of walking and calories, cleverly titled:

  • Distance 
  • Weight 
  • Pace 

And has a handy breakdown to show you how many calories you’re burning based on those three things.
