How to exploit the temporary power of motivation…

“I’m gonna get started on January 1st”. 

       -99.9% of the population 

Yeah, I get that. 

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, get stronger, get more toned, or whatever your goal is… 

The next 22 days gives us a little time to get mentally prepared and have a few last blowouts. 

BUT, what if you started today. 

And gave yourself a head start? 

Today, our co-founder Ryan is “stupidly” (his words:) cutting out ALL processed foods.  

Disclaimer: He already eats pretty clean, so he is just adding this to his nutrition stack. Inasmuch as I’d love for everyone to go this route, it may be too big of a change if you’re currently eating fast food 10 times per week. 

The “stupid” part is that the holidays are the peak for highly-processed, delicious treats we only get once per year.  

(Hey, I told you he said it was stupid.) 

But, after eating like a garbage can the week of Thanksgiving, he’s motivated to clean up his act. 

Rather than wait two weeks, he’s using that motivation to start building his new habit right now. 

Because, as we all know… 

Motivation is temporary. 

Just ask half of all people who quit their New Year’s resolution by the middle of January – every year. 

Now, motivation can be very powerful. 

For whatever reason, something lights a fire under our a$$es.  

It could be a glance in the mirror after a shower. 

It could be a health scare. 

It could be that you’re finally fed up.   

Whatever the reason, we’re suddenly gung-ho to get off the couch and moving. 

And getting started is the hardest part. 

That is the power of motivation. 

Where motivation lets us down is that it doesn’t help us stick to it.  

Enter “habit building”. 

Motivation gets us moving. 

Habits keep us moving.  

It’s a super-powerful 1-2 punch for sustainable success. 

This year, let’s not wait. 

If you’re motivated right now (Mondays are a great motivation day), then stop fighting yourself and get after it. 

Motivation’s shelf life is very short. 

The longer you can take advantage, the better chances you’re going to have time for your new habits to stick. 

Then, the wheels keep spinning. 

And your success is all but guaranteed.
