Now go bench a Volkswagen!

“Now, drop and gimme 100!”

In the interest of education, I’ve done a lot of different exercise programs. Some were run like the Navy Seals. Some were gimmicky. Some were great.

The meathead programs? Not my jam.

A bunch of dudes getting each other pumped up like they’re taking the field for the Super Bowl, all wearing the same muscle tees sounds awful.

No thanks. I’m good.

I just want to get fit so I can look good and play my best golf for many years to come.

When figuring out what works best for you, you have to do what feels good to you – it’s the only way it will ever be sustainable.

Now, does the meathead thing work? 100%. I see jacked guys I the gym all of the time.

I’m not judging their process, but it’s just not for me – and would feel fake and forced every time I did it.
Here’s the deal…

You will see people successfully working out in a specific way, and you blindly try and copy their process. And that’s a BIG mistake.

Shoot, sometimes I feel myself starting to fall into the trap.

I’ll run across a video of David Goggins (I love his stuff) and, for a split second, think his system is perfect – and it is perfect, just for him. His Navy Seal, in your face style is completely aligned with him. And aligned with the people he helps.

BUT, that’s not me.

I can’t say it enough times…

Do what feels good to you. Because that is what is going to last.

If you want to train like David Goggins, then go for it.

If you want to run ultra marathons, then go for it.

If you want to climb mountains, do the Ironman, bike across the country, swim the English Channel…go for it.

YOUR life. YOUR body. YOUR rules.

And if what you’re currently doing isn’t aligned with what you want – then today is your fresh start. It’s never, ever too late.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go shoulder press a small Volkswagen…
