Stop the “work” and start “working” instead

It’s Saturday and so begins another weekend of Pelizzaro kids’ sports – and I love every second of it.

So while I’ve got some time before the onslaught of soccer, gymnastics and mountain-biking, I’d love to talk about “work.”

Growing up, I heard a ton of uncles, aunts, friends’ parents, and just about anybody who would offer me advice about jobs and my career tell me, “It’s called work for a reason.”

Obviously, they were trying to get the point across that it’s not really supposed to be enjoyable.

Luckily, I don’t think my Dad ever thought that way.

He loved (still does) to travel.  So, he started a travel company.

Of course, he told us we had to work hard at everything, but hard work and enjoyment are not mutually exclusive.  We can have them both at the same time.

When I left Physical Therapy school, I had a job in a clinic working with mostly elderly folks and workman’s comp people.  But, I always wanted to work with athletes.  So that’s what I did.

Now, I love my job.

It’s work, but it’s not “work.”

And that’s where I see a lot of guys go wrong with their workouts, exercise and training.

They see the before and after pictures of Program XYZ, and think to themselves, “I can easily do that for 90 days.  How hard can it be?”

Well, a lot of those programs are miserable.  We can only will ourselves to do so much.

And if our strategy is to rely on willpower, then we’ve lost from day 1.

Instead, work out in a way that is enjoyable for you.

If you like lifting weights, do that.

If you like bodyweight exercises, do that.

If you like strength training because you want to play your best golf, do that.

Look, at the end of the day, we just want you to do something.

If strength training to play your best golf is your jam, that’s where we can help.

If you’re just getting started, then I think you’ll enjoy Golf Body Blueprint – Activate.

It’s our beginner program designed to ease you back into working out so that you can start creating new, ENJOYABLE habits you’ll have forever.

Again, if all you can do is get up and moving for 20-30 minutes, that’s a great start.  When you’re ready to take the next step, we’ll be here.

Your #1 Fan,

Jeff Pelizzaro
