I’m a little late today, but I’ve had a busy Friday of fun. And it’s just beginning of a great weekend.
Before we let loose, here’s a quote from the tech king himself – Steve Jobs.
Now, on the surface it’s about the fear of failure.
But between the lines, there’s a whole lot to unpack.
See if you can catch what’s going on:
“[when we started out] we said, you know, we have absolutely nothing to lose.
I was 20 years old at the time, Woz was 24 or 25.
So we have nothing to lose.
I mean, we have no families, no children, uh, no houses.
Woz had an old car.
You know, I had a Volkswagen van.
I mean, all we were going to lose is our cars and the shirts off our back.
We had nothing to lose, and we had everything to gain when we figured, even if we crash and burn and lose everything, the experience will have been worth 10 times the cost…the only thing you really have in your life is time.
And if you invest that time in yourself to have great experiences that are going to enrich you, then you can’t possibly lose.”
Unfortunately, I hear a version of this too often:
“Jeff, I’m past my prime. I’ve got so much going on. And I don’t have time.”
But those like us who grasp the full context can see what’s going on.
Oh yeah. We see it.
We see that failure is just a result. Nothing more. Nothing less.
We see that whether we sit on the couch or pursue our goals, time is still passing.
We see that our experiences are what move us forward.
I enjoy reading about Steve Jobs.
And there’s a lot more to the above quote. Each time I read it, there’s another takeaway, especially when applied to our fitness.
Most of it is between the lines. And between our individual ears. But, if you’re looking, you’ll see the value.
And if you’re motivated, you’ll act on them for your health and fitness.
Alright, we’ve spent enough time on a Friday for soul-searching.
And since we’re on the subject of time:
