There is a part in the day when, if you’re like me, you start to feel hungry.
I usually eat breakfast, and can make it to lunch without snacking, no problem.
But, between lunch and dinner I start fighting hunger on most days.
Well, I used to.
Somewhere along the way, I learned about anchoring my appetite with a small protein hit, so I gave it a shot.
And boy, does it work like a champ.
So, here’s what you can try between any meals so that you’re not grazing all day when the calories tend to get away from us.
When you feel hungry between meals, eat:
20-30g of protein only.
For example:
- Greek yogurt
- 2–3 eggs
- Cottage cheese
- Protein shake
- Beef jerky
- Tuna packet
Then wait 15–20 minutes.
Most of the time, the hunger goes away completely.
It works so well because protein triggers satiety hormones (PYY and GLP-1) that tell your brain you’re full.
Now, the protein shake works best for me.
I’ve been crushing the lemonade flavored Clear Protein from 1st Phorm.
It works great for me because I sip on it longer, which helps my brain catch up to my stomach to tell it, “Hey idiot, you’re not hungry.”
The protein sticks are a good option as well, but they’re so good that I eat them so fast that I immediately want another.
Just try a few options to see what works best for you.
You’ve got this!
STAY STRONG,
Jeff
