You, me and Bobby McGee

Well, yesterday my cousin Ryan asked me if I wanted to run the St. Louis Marathon with him in April.
And the verdict is in…

Nope.

In spite of my love for the many miles I’ve run on the soccer field, two things:

  1. I do not enjoy running
  2. The constant pounding on the pavement may put me on the spine transplant list

So, good luck to Ryan…I’ll be the guy at the finish line handing him a frosty IPA.

The part I’m a little jealous about is that we have a great running community here in town.

We’ve gotten to know a handful of the best runners in town.

And to a man, they are all willing to lend their expertise, encouragement and provide any help they can.

The power of a community with common goals can be life-altering.

We all have shared experiences.

Shared challenges.

Shared successes.

All of which help inspire and motivate each other.

It’s been almost five years since we did it, but we had a tightknit coaching group called “RFG” (Real. Fit. Golf.).

It was a 12-week program (a little too long) with weekly calls where I was basically just the host.

Going into it, I thought, “Hey, I’m the expert. I’m gonna have to talk the entire time.”

Wrong.

We had a great group of golfers in the group.

And it took on a life of its own.

I was just another golfer in the group.

We were all going through similar challenges and obstacles.

So, we all got to compare notes.

Granted, I had a few more notes from working with so many golfers throughout the years.

But, I also learned a ton.

To this day, I still play regularly with the local guys.

And will occasionally reach out to or hear from the out-of-town guys.

The point?

Being a part of a community does a lot of things – keep us accountable, keep us motivated, creates healthy competitions, etc.

BUT, the one thing that stands out above the rest is how much more fun and enjoyable the journey is with a group to share it with.

STAY STRONG,
Jeff “Find Your Tribe” Pelizzaro

PS – Okay, so I told you that we were opening up our 30-day coaching program today, but we ran into a technical snafu with the platform…

AND I kept adding to it.

I suppose not being able to change the logo on the website probably isn’t a good enough reason to not open it, so I’ll take the blame.

You see that? That’s accountability.

You can only get that level from a community:)

Tomorrow, we will open the doors to the 30-Day Resolution Revolution (not a bad name, right?).

It starts on Jan. 2nd, so we’ve got some time.

Until then, take a look at The 40-Day Forge.

That is how I’m going to start my2023, but certainly not mandatory for everyone.
