Your handicap isn’t the greenskeeper’s fault

If you’ve ever had the privilege to be around high school boys, they are masters of avoiding accountability and responsibility.

They should have “It wasn’t my fault!” tattooed across their foreheads.

To be fair…looking back, we were all the same way, so I can’t get too upset.

In fact, most adults haven’t figured out this lesson:

Life becomes free when we accept responsibility for the position we’re in.

  • How fit we are.
  • How our careers are going.
  • How our checkbooks look.
  • How our golf indexes are moving.

All of it is a reflection of the habits we have built over our lives.

Inputs and outputs.

  • It’s not the government’s fault.
  • It’s not our spouses’ fault.
  • It’s not the greenskeepers fault.

It’s because of the decisions we’ve made.

And whether or not those decisions were good or bad.

I’m certainly not perfect (far from it), but when I came to this realization years ago, the stress started to melt away.

Here’s the best part:

It’s waaaay less exhausting to take ownership than have to search for someone or something to blame.

STAY STRONG,

Jeff
