As the morning starts to warm up, Iâm still basking in the glow of an awesome trip to the wilderness. Not to be outdone last night by the US Menâs National Team all but punching their ticket to this yearâs World Cup.
You, me, and the rest of the Crew are gonna have a great week.
A new week. A new workout. A new exercise program. Those are all very exciting. And a great place to start our week.
I like to think of working out in terms of stages.
To get the party started, letâs jam on the first stage…the Pre-Contemplation phase. When you ask a person at this stage, âDo you work out?â, the answer is some version of this:
âYeah, right.â
Thereâs some odd pride that people talk themselves into believing is positive. Itâs kind of a too-cool-for-school mentality. But just like the too cool person, when you get to the root, itâs simply fear.
Fear of change. Fear of putting yourself out there. Fear of failing if you do try. Fear of the unknown.
I canât tell you how many people tell me Iâm full of s*** when I say you donât have to sweat to get a great workout.
Or how many people think theyâre too old to start working out.
Or theyâre too far gone to get back in shape.
Whatever the case, a little knowledge goes a long way to get over those fears.
Of course, we have to always give the disclaimer that you should consult your doctor before starting a new exercise program. But I can guarantee you that your doctorâs advice will be that some exercise is better than no exercise.
So follow take that knowledge…and do something.
For us golfers, the minimum exercise is the Daily Motion EFD mobility routine. We all have 8 minutes each day to grease up our joints â neck, shoulders, hips, ankles, etc. to feel and move better.
Then, you slowly increase your frequency and intensity. Again, you are not the star of a Gatorade commercial â you donât need to be out of breath and sweating like a pig in a sauna to get a great workout.
Your goals and your preference will dictate your decisions.
Do you want to lose fat and gain lean muscle? Or, do you want to bulk up like âroid rager? And every thing in between.
I personally like the lean muscle look, so thatâs what Iâve been doing the past decade. I can tell you from experience, if you try to live somebody elseâs lifestyle by working out in a way you do NOT enjoy, you will 100% fail.
The choice is always yours.
Youâve got this,
Jeff Pelizzaro
PS â We created the 18STRONG App to give our Crew a central place to access all of our training programs as their goals evolve. We give you the EXACT, step-by-step blueprint so thereâs no guesswork.
If youâre just dipping your toe in the fitness water, I would start with the Daily Motion EFD mobility routine for the next 7 days. When you accomplish that, then add the Golf Body Blueprint â Activate program for beginners.
If youâre not a member yet, I think you should jump in with both feet today.
