Ahh, Tuesday morning.
Already had my delicious lemon water. Got in an hour walk with the pooch. Trained with a client. And now I get to email the Crew.
Not a bad gig I’ve got going here.
Today, let’s set the record straight on something I hear all of the time…
“I don’t want to lift weights. I’m afraid I’ll get bulky.”
And I get it. Especially this time of year. You ever see an interview in the locker room after a NCAA or NFL football game? Good lord, those guys look like superheroes.
BUT, as someone who has spent the last decade religiously lifting heavy things, I can tell you this…
It ain’t easy.
When we see those football players with muscles on top of muscles, we’re not seeing the full picture. We’re NOT seeing
Their intense workouts
The immense amount of calories and food to maintain or achieve that size
Any supplements they’re taking
And in many cases, there’s some funny business they’re taking
The deal is that those guys have dedicated their lives to looking “bulky”. And hey, if that’s what you want, have at it.
Now, for the rest of us…you know what happens when we start lifting weights?
We get leaner.
Instead of that bulky look, our body composition starts to resemble the lean, muscular look you most often see on the cover of Men’s Health.
And depending on where you’re starting, it happens faster than you may think.
Tomorrow, I’m going to dive deeper into why it happens.
Today, you’re going to have to remove the “bulky” excuse from your Rolodex of reasons to not lift weights.

PS – If you do want to get bulky..I’m not your guy.
But, if you want to get lean, strong, more mobile and use the work in the gym to play your best golf on the course, then you’ve come to the right place.
If you haven’t already, I would start today by joining the 18STRONG Membership.
See you on the inside.
