đź’Ş How To Crush Inconsistency

It’s an unseasonably warm morning here in St. Louis, which can only mean we’re about to get blasted with a winter storm. Yup, it gets here tonight. And with it, lots of snow tomorrow and Thursday.

But we’ll stay warm, fueled by the feedback of last Thursday’s Live Q&A call.

We clearly struck a nerve, so let’s stick with it.

So, you’re having trouble working out consistently? And it’s difficult to wrap your brain around long-term goals?

I totally get it.

Life gets hectic. And I’m sure you’re pulled in a ton of different directions every single day.

Like Michael Jackson sang about: “you are not alone.” (Great slow jam, by the way.)

As luck would have it, we’ve uncovered some tips and tricks that have not only helped our Crew, but also kept me on track.

By now, you’ve certainly seen the hashtag #nevermisstwice. It was one of the greatest things that came out of a group coaching program we did almost two years ago.

One of our guys came up with it. It became our rallying cry. And, most importantly, it stuck.

The crux is that it’s okay to stumble. We all miss a workout now and again.

You have to work late.

You have to pick up the kids from practice.

Or, you got lost in a Netflix time warm binge-watching Curb Your Enthusiasm

Don’t sweat it. And don’t beat yourself up.

“Hey Jeff. You told me this email was about consistency – then you just told me it’s okay to miss a workout? What was in your coffee this morning?”

What I’m saying is to proceed with caution when you miss a workout. I’ve seen too many of our Crew (myself included) try to be so perfect that one missed workout totally defeats us, then turns into multiple missed days. That spirals to “F it!”, I’m just not going to work out at all.

You don’t need to do that to yourself. Perfection is not the goal here. The real goal is 80/20 or 90/10 of the time you are doing the work.

I hate to sound like a participation-trophy parent, but when you miss a session, forgive yourself.

Then, embrace the power. And rally around our mantra…#nevermisstwice.

Missing ONE workout isn’t a huge deal.

However, two workouts in a row is the real danger.

Because if you’re not careful, you’ll spiral down a very slippery slope. And stop exercising altogether.

So, don’t let that trend start in the first place.

You’ve got this.

Stay Strong,

Jeff Pelizzaro

PS – I just realized today is Feb. 1st. You know what that means?

Your new monthly workout program is ready to rock in the 18STRONG App

That’s for the golfers who like a lot of variety to keep them interested. And of course, consistent.

How about that for a last-minute, super-powerful consistency trick? I just snuck that gold in under the wire:)
