A very irritating TravisMathew t-shirt

Huh?
There are two schools of thought here:TravisMathew (didn’t know that was one word until I looked it up this morning) is trying to be funny by leaning into our idiot male brains talking ourselves into dad bods being what the ladies want.TravisMathew is advertising to golfers who have given up.As a glass full kinda guy, I want to believe the former. But, when I saw this, it really bothered me – I’m probably overthinking it.  We’ve all walked through Dick’s or Golf Galaxy, looked at the mannequin, and thought, “Man, I’d like to look like that.” In this case, I hope to my core that none of us think that.  Whether we’re swinging a club, looking to feel better, or want longevity, our fitness is #1.  I look at that dummy and I have to fight this thought…”Is that what this world has come to? Companies know we’re so content and inactive that they’re creating marketing campaigns to cater to our laziness?” In the big scheme of things, that dummy is not morbidly obese, nor is he the most out of shape golfer in our Crew. We could quickly whip him into shape if he was ready to put in the work. Hey, we’re all at different stages of the journey. That’s part of the fun. I think I’m most aggravated that “they” have set that mannequin as a standard… …when we should all strive for the dummy in the background. Thankfully, our Crew (you’re part of it) isn’t satisfied with sitting on our cans, and saying, “I’m just getting old.” Again, I’m probably overthinking it, but am very sensitive to the popular narrative that it’s okay to be overweight and out of shape. It’s not.  Waiting for a pill to fix you is a bad strategy. Our best lives and rounds are done with a fit, healthy body.  No exceptions. STAY STRONG, Jeff PS – If a fit, healthy body is something you need help with, then we’ve got you covered in the 18STRONG Membership. That TravisMathew mannequin is the “before” picture.  We can help you work on your “after”.
