ExternalOnly one more day until the PGA Championship fun begins.
If The Masters was any indication, I think we’re in store for another doozy.
How cool would it be for two golfers to win their career Grand Slam in back-to-back majors?
Maybe Spieth’s surgically repaired wrist from last year is what will make it happen.
We see injuries in all sports, but us lunatic golfers may have it the worst.
I will argue toe-to-toe with anybody that the golf swing is the most complex movement of any sport.
And because of that, there are an almost limitless number of ways to get injured.
On days when we play, we hopefully hit the range, then hit the course.
Between the two, we’re putting our bodies through a very violent movement 100+ times.
And THAT is a lot of stress on the body.
In theory, soccer players could focus on just their ankles, knees and maybe their hips (lower body).
And stay relatively injury-free.
Golfers on the other hand, need to protect our ankles, knees, hips, back, wrists, shoulders, neck – pretty much all our joints.
Of course, there are muscle injuries, but the joint injuries are the ones that keep guys off the course for entire seasons.
So, what should we do to avoid injuries?
STRENGTHEN OUR MUSCLES
Our muscles keep our joints safe.
And, as we’ve learned looking back at the history of golf injuries, the lion’s share is joint-related.
So, in the wise words of Sergeant Phil Esterhaus from the tv show Hill St. Blues…
“Let’s be careful out there.”
STAY STRONG,
Jeff
PS – Each time we build out a new training program, injury-prevention is always one of our main components.
It’s kinda like building a car with airbags.
So, if you staying on the course for years to come, I highly recommend you join us in the 18STRONG Membership.
See you on the inside.
