Getting in shape is difficult.
Every day, there’s a new trend on social media, a new drug launched, a new secret workout strategy, a new diet.
It’s confusing, frustrating, and demoralizing.
For the past 15-ish years, I’ve done my damndest to try and cut through all the BS and help busy people get to the truth, and forget the rest.
I’ve written about 1000 emails on pretty much every topic related to exercise or nutrition.
Here’s the thing: the fact that I’ve had so much to write about tells you something…
…this stuff can be confusing, and everybody is coming at it from a different place as they struggle with their own battles.
And that’s true, even when you’re reading science-backed, well-researched articles.
It gets even worse if you’re trying to get your information from social media or YouTube, where people are often sharing terrible advice wrapped in 6-pack abs, or doing what they can to scare you from eating meat, cereal, fruit, or whatever.
(Yes, there are a lot of people who think meat and fruit are bad for you. Please don’t listen to them).
As a result of all this chaos around the internet, I’ve received one question more than any other:
“Jeff, can you just TELL me what to do?”
It makes sense.
We’re all busy and burned out.
We’re stretched too thin, like not enough butter spread out on a piece of toast.
We all have a limited amount of time, a limited amount of energy, and a limited attention span.
There’s nothing worse than spending months building a new habit, or cutting something fun out of our diet, only to discover that it didn’t actually do anything to get us the results we want.
Or, spending a boatload of money on expensive supplements that don’t do anything either. (By the way, supplements are not miracle cures. They “supplement” our diets.)
