Yesterday afternoon, I was talking to an ex-pharmacist friend of mine who, after 8 years at Rite-Aid could no longer take the weight of watching people try to “fix” themselves with prescription drugs instead of eating right and exercising.
And I’m not saying that fixes every ailment.
But, it sure fixes a lot.
On a daily basis, she would have some version of this conversation…
Patient: “I really wish I could get off all of these drugs.”
Megan: “Well, you’re here three times a week, and you only live five blocks away. How about you just start by walking here instead of driving.”
Patient: “Nah.”
And many would stop at Wendy’s next door once they left the pharmacy.
Super frustrating, bro.
So yesterday, we talked about those who want to actually want to make real, life-altering changes, and how it revolves around this…
“Everything you want is on the other side of consistency.”
So, let’s keep this rig rolling…
One thing we all need to remember is consistency does NOT mean we need to be “perfect”.
If we’re chasing perfection, we’ve already lost.
Instead…
If you keep doing the right things most of the time, you’ll win.
If you keep doing the wrong things most of the time, you’ll lose.
The golfer who eats clean and healthy 80-90% of the time will maintain his ideal weight and have lots of energy.
The golfer who eats like a garbage can 80-90% of the time will maintain his big ol’ gut and feel how he looks.
So, the first step in being consistent is ONE thing:
Make a decision.
It doesn’t matter if you decide to take up jogging.
If you decide to lift weights.
If you decide to eat a keto diet.
It doesn’t matter.
Here’s what matters:
Decisions are a form of progress.
And you’ll move faster when you decide faster.
Stop researching…just decide.
Here’s the caveat: If you are making a massive decision that can’t easily be reversed, take extra time.
BUT, we’re talking about golf and fitness.
Not whether you should switch careers.
Make a decision.
Stick to the plan 80-90% of the time.
And watch as the wins pile up.
STAY STRONG,
Jeff

And everything in between.
