If you’re anything like me, you’re pretty over the excessive pharmaceutical ads as we’re watching Scottie crush it.
Now, before you click “reply” to tell me about how great your big pharma job is…
Of course, we need medicine.
I’m not saying that.
But man, it as gone off the rails when, in a lot of cases, the simple treatment is right under our noses.
If you’ve ever needed more proof that movement is medicine, a study I read this morning is it.
Here’s the study in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The gist is that for over three years, 900-ish colon cancer survivors across five countries either received basic wellness education…or got paired with an exercise coach.
The result?
The exercise group saw 28% fewer cancer recurrences and 37% fewer deaths from any cause.
Let that sink in.
That group who exercised had almost a third less patients get cancer again. That is a huge number!
And what was the “secret weapon”?
Walking.
No kidding.
Many participants simply walked 45 minutes a few times a week.
But the real game-changer?
Coaching.
Coaches helped participants stick with it — checking in every two weeks at first, then monthly — offering guidance, accountability, and just enough tough love to keep ‘em going.
We say it all the time: consistency is king.
And now science has our back.
This structured movement program rivaled the effectiveness of some drugs — and for just a few thousand bucks per patient.
Translation: this stuff works, and it’s affordable.
The researchers are still digging into the “why”, but the takeaway is clear:
Exercise isn’t just rehab.
It’s prevention.
It’s life extension.
It’s power.
So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to double down on your exercise — or to help someone you love get started — this is the wake-up call.
STAY STRONG,
Jeff
