After following this election cycle (thank the good lord it’s finally over), I’ve become very aware of how many useless predictions exist in the world.
Yesterday morning, half the world thought Trump was going to win, the other half predicted he was going to lose.
Well, 50/50 isn’t exactly scientific.
But here’s the thing…
If a prediction doesn’t lead to a useful change in your behavior – stop paying attention to it.
Example:
With 100% certainty, I can predict that your weight will go down if you adopt an ultra-low-calorie diet.
And seeing a smaller number may feel good.
And it may lead you to cut even more calories.
But it’s a vanity number – if you’re not eating properly, a good portion of your weight loss is muscle.
Ergo, it’s not a useful change in your behavior.
There are more productive ways to lose fat AND build lean muscle.
In general, by “productive”, I’m referring to actions that are more likely to move your needle in a positive direction for the long-term.
Every action exists on a spectrum of what’s more or less likely to get you into better shape.
Cutting an unstainable amount of calories is LESS likely to get you into better shape.
Slowly changing your nutrition habits is MORE likely to get you into better shape.
It’s your job to analyze and place your actions into one of those two buckets.
And if you’re not sure, then it’s our job to help you.
STAY STRONG,
Jeff
