Are your workouts boring?

On my morning walk today, I heard an advertisement for PlayFitt, an exercise app designed to just get people moving. 

For example, moms use do squats with their babies.  People can do stand-up push-ups at their desk.  You walk the stairs at work or home.   

It’s not very intense, but a lot of people just need a reminder to move every day.  I think it’s a great idea, and I dig what they’re doing. 

I was doing a little digging and came across one of their blog posts, and this was the first sentence: 

“Let’s face it, exercise is boring.” 

To be fair, we’re not their market, but I could not disagree with that statement more. 

The post went on to explain the five reasons exercise is so boring, and how to fix it. 

But really, those were just Band-Aids, not solving the real problem. 

The real problem is that too many guys are doing exercises they don’t enjoy. 

That’s it. 

When we do things we enjoy, it’s never boring and we’ll never stop. 

I love lifting weights.  I put my earphones in, listen to a podcast, and zone out. 

Our co-founder Ryan loves to watch TV while working out. 

Some guys like to keep their workouts fresh, and mix things up every few weeks like our Monthly Workout Blueprint

Some dudes like to only use their own bodyweight like our Anywhere Program

Some don’t like to work out at all – and those guys are out of shape:) 

The point is just to find what you enjoy, and you’ll never be bored.

PS – I’ve seen guys in the gym do the exact same workout for years…please don’t do that.  It’s better than doing nothing, but it’s a really inefficient way to do it.
