How to get (back) in shape.

Today is LIVE Q&A day, so don’t forget to reserve your spot here.

So, the theme this week has been getting started.  And avoiding the pitfalls that our brains keep putting in our way.

Our circumstances in life change, so it something we all have to tackle at some point.

Maybe we stopped playing sports after high school or college.

Maybe we have less time (than we think) for ourselves now that we have a family.

Or maybe we can’t stop watching re-runs of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

No matter how long it’s been, here are three of the greatest tips we’ve come across to turn it around:

  1. Start slowly.  I see this mistake, and I’ve done this more times than I can count.  Something clicks, we get super-motivated, and think we’re going to look like a Men’s Health cover model in just 90 days.

Avoid the temptation, and please remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.

  1. Use momentum.  Here’s how it goes:  When we exercise, we eat better.  When we eat better, we feel better.  When we feel better, we want to exercise.

Then, the cycle repeats.

  1. Respect YOUR time.  We are wired to take care of our families and put their needs ahead of ours.  It’s a great thing, but we also need some time to take care of ourselves.

And, if we don’t take care of ourselves, we won’t be around to take care of our families.

Here’s a bonus tip:  stop beating yourself up.

Give yourself some time and your body and life will change.

You’ve got this.

PS – If that thing has clicked and you’re ready to get back to your glory days, then I would check out the 7-day free trial of the 18STRONG Membership App.

When you get in there, check out the Activate program.  That’s gonna ease you back into working out, but will give you a lot of quick wins.
