Somehow the arteries in my head didn’t explode.

It’s Wednesday, which means we’re exactly 1-week from leaving for our 18STRONG outing at Sweetens Cove in TN.

This will be my second time there, and now that I know how awesome it is, I’m even more excited for the trip than last year.  Can’t wait to tell you about it.

So, all week we’ve been talking about getting started if it’s been a while since you’ve worked out.

And I’m always reminded of a chilly morning before school when my Dad’s car wouldn’t start.

This was 20+ years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

So, we walked out to the car in the morning, got in, then click, click, click.

Bad battery.

It clearly wasn’t my Dad’s first time, so we rolled the car out of the garage so we could push it down the street so he could pop the clutch and get Maxi (that’s what we called our Nissan Maxima) started.

But here’s the thing…

…our driveway was sloped down, so it was easy to get the car to the street.

However, once we got it in the street, we had a little uphill slope to get over before we got to the downhill part of our street.

I remember pushing and pushing and pushing in the street, but the car wouldn’t budge.

Finally, I told myself, “I don’t care if I burst an artery in my head, I’m getting this thing to move.”

And I did.

Once I got it up and over the little slope, the car took off down the hill on it’s own, my Dad popped the clutch, got it started, and off we went to school (not so secretly I was hoping it wasn’t going to happen so I would miss the morning of school).

The reason I bring it up is because just getting started with a new exercise program can be the hardest part.

You get ridiculed by others.  You know you’re going to be sore the first few days or weeks.  And you’ve tried and failed in the past.

F all that.

Because once you get that car in motion, it’s 100X easier to keep it in motion.

Use that momentum to keep pushing forward.

And we’re here to help – all you have to do is ask.

You’ve got this.

Jeff Pelizzaro

PS – The best way to get that car moving is by doing the Daily Motion routine already installed on your calendar in the 18STRONG Membership App

It’s 7-ish minutes of simple movements that you’ll do every day.  Try it for a week, and lemme know how much better you feel.

The trial is free for the next 7 days, so you’ve got nothing to lose.  Here you go:
