I’ve got a super busy day at the gym today as the warmer weather has golfers scrambling to make up for lost time, so I’ll be brief today as we solve one of the biggest problems I see in the gym – definitely in the Top 3…
We’ve established that, for a variety of reasons, doing the exact same workout over and over doesn’t work.
Assuming you’re mixing up your workouts every 4-8 weeks (which I know you are:), here’s the next pitfall we need to avoid…
Sticking to the same weight.
If you achieved a 20-lb curl before LIV was even a thing, and are still hoisting the same weight, it’s time to graduate to 25s.
We know that your muscles get bigger when you break them down.
And they rebuild themselves.
And additional stress is essential in making that happen.
If your first rep and your 10th rep feel about the same, increase the weight you’re lifting.
Here’s the kicker: Lifting heavier allows you to do MORE work in the same amount of time.
It would take you 5 minutes to curl 2lbs to failure.
BUT, you may get through a set of eight, quality, challenging reps of heavier weight in 30-40 seconds.
There you go…I just gave you the gift of time.
No more “I don’t have time” excuses.
You now have the secret to shorter, more effective work sessions.
Work smarter, not harder.
